Descrizione
Constructive Alps is an international award for sustainable architecture promoted by the Swiss Confederation and organized in collaboration with the Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein and with the support of the University of Liechtenstein and CIPRA -International Commission for the Protection of the Alps.
The prize aims to contribute to gradually make the Alps a model region in the field of climate protection, therefore the jury took into account the energy aspects of the projects submitted.
The Italian Presidency of the Alpine Convention intends to promote the work developed by Swiss and in this sense it will present to the Italian public the traveling exhibition Constructive Alps that, through 32 panels containing photos and descriptive texts of construction and renovation projects, promotes the best works submitted to the award. Through the exhibition, the Presidency wants to give importance to the issue of environmental sustainability, stressing the need to think and plan architectural structures more and more eco-friendly, respectful of the environment within which they fit and functional to the needs of those who live in. Important topics that the Alpine Convention is committed to enhance and promote, both within its institutions and through public initiatives, in the context of cross-border cooperation between the Alpine countries.
The first stage of the exhibition is the Italian city of Turin, which for economic and social importance and centrality is historically a laboratory of ideas and innovation in architecture and it is considered the gateway to the Alps in north- western Italy. In Turin, the exhibition will be on display from the 14th to the 26th of April and will then go to Ventimiglia (May), Trento (June) and Cortina (July), closing in September with Rome. Previously the exhibition was on display in various locations in Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein and Slovenia.
